2011 Arneis
Product Image

Arneis originates from the hills of Roero, northwest of Alba in the Piedmont region of Italy from which Edoardo Seghesio emigrated in 1886. Noted in Italian records as far back as 1478, Arneis’ production grew as it was often planted among rows of Nebbiolo to lure hungry birds away from the more prized red grapes. Arneis’ literal translation is “little rascal,” due to the viticultural challenges it presents in the vineyard. For some time, we had the largest planting of Arneis in the U.S., all of 26 vines. Today, we have 8 acres on our Keyhole Ranch, where the cool climate produces highly expressive Arneis.

Mineral and dusty nuances are enhanced with crisp and floral aromas. Complex and full-bodied, with notes of pear and dried apricot. Crisp acidity elevates fruit profile.  Whole cluster pressed, 100% stainless steel tank fermented to showcase crisp acidity and bright varietal fruit aromas

Pairs nicely with mild cheeses and fruit-accented salads (particularly grilled peaches) or chicken roasts with apple and tart cherry and chicken kiev from our friends at Kansas City Steak Company.
